The Electrical Technology Complex at LBCC’s Pacific Coast Campus includes the construction of a new 24,839 GSF classroom / lab facility as well as a repurposing of an existing 7,667 SF building for instructional uses. Specifically, the facilities are programmed and designed to provide a “hands-on” learning environment for the College’s Electrical Technology Program. LBCC is the only community college in the region to offer such a high number of Advanced Manufacturing programs on a single campus. These programs include:
- 7 Active Learning Spaces for hands-on instruction in Transformer, Motor, Cisco / Networking, AutoCAD, Lab Volt, and Motor Control technologies
- Specialized Instructional Labs include, PCL (Programmable Logic Controller), Building Automation, Building Lighting and Automation, and Robotics / Electro-hydraulics / Pneumatics
- A yard space, shared between the new and repurposed buildings supports the solar, traffic signal and robotics / automation program needs.
In addition to the Electrical Technology program, the complex provides the campus with 2 general assignment classrooms, a 120-set stepped / sloped floor Lecture Hall (Dyer Hall); and A Lifetime Learning Center offering community education and Senior Studies programs for older adults.
